When did Bananas become Ice Cream?

I have a hard time saying that this bowl I’m eating should be considered “ice cream”. When I was growing up ice cream was milky, creamy and full of all that fat that everyone is scared of now. Now, it’s full of fruit and essentially healthy. What a change we’ve made in this world.

This new phenomon of blending frozen bananas together wasn’t something I was on board with right away. I mean how can it really relate to the beloved Ben and Jerrys? I was thrown off by it to be honest. It’s actually delicious, and especially the versatility that is has. I mean, throw in any frozen fruit, milk, protein powder, maybe even some chocolate and you’ve got endless possibilities.

The great thing about making banana ice cream is that its so versatile for any diet. Whether you’re vegan, gluten or dairy free you’re still able to enjoy it!

Recipe:

makes: one serving

1-2 frozen banana

1/3 cup almond/soy milk

100 grams greek yogurt

1/2 scoop vanilla whey

extras: vanilla extract, frozen berries

METHOD:

Place all ingredients into Blender and pulse until all combined and becomes a thick ice cream like base. Serve! Top with nuts, berries, chia seeds.. you pick! If you don’t have protien powder or simply don’t want to use it, that’s fine too because it’s not required! I typically will add it in to get that extra protein in my day.
